Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Colborne-Stephenson Lakes Deformation Zone (CSDZ) is located i southern Rennie township where it is defined by a 300 m wide zone of ductile shearing and modertaely to strongly deformed rocks. The CSDZ can be traed for at least 4 km, is open to the east, and has not been traced westward of the Rennie Lake Stock whcih may truncate or deflect the zone. The CSDZ is localized in felsic to intermdiate pyroclastic rocks with minor mafic metavolcanic intercalations. Within the CSDZ there are several ductlie shear zones where the rocks are deformed to sericite-chlorite-quartz-carbonate schists. These zones trend from 85 to 110 degrees and range in width from less than 1 m to 10 m.
