Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The McKewen Lake Deformation Zone (MLDZ) is a 1.5 km wide, SE-trending zone of strongly deformed mafic to intermediate and felsic to intermediate metavolcanic rocks, which can be traced from McKewen Lake in the northern part of West Township, southeastwards to the northwestern corner of Stover Township. Discrete 120-130 degree trending ductile shear zones are common throughout the MLDZ, but only a small number of shear zones are greater than 1 m.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 20, 2013 (A Wilson) - Grab samples collected from a stripped area by G. Lucuik in 1997 returned assays ranging from 0.008 oz/t Au to 0.024 oz/t Au. Assays from the single drill hole returned best values of 15 ppb Au over 1 foot. A grab sample collected from the stripped area by McKinnon Prospecting returned a best assay of 3283 ppb Au. Grab samples collected from the area in 1975 returned values of 1.72 oz/t Au and 23.68 oz/t Ag; 0.74 oz/t au and 12.56 oz/t Ag and 0.22 oz/t Au and 4.04 oz/t Ag. Assays from the diamond drilling included 0.24 oz/t Au and 2.50 oz/t Ag over 4.5 ft in DH-2, 0.14 oz/t Au and 1.30 oz/t Ag over 2.5 ft in DDH-4.
