Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Baltimore Lake Deformation Zone (BLDZ) is located in northwestern Stover Township where it is defined by by a 1.2 km wide, SE-trending zone of folding, transposition and shearing. The BLDZ can be traced fro approximately 6 km southeastward across Stover Township. The BLDZ is characterized by rootless isoclinal folds of bedding/schistosity, sinistral and dextral shear folds, transposition and ductile shear zones axial planr to the folds.

Lithology Comments

Aug 19, 2013 (A Wilson) - A chip sample collected by Sylvanite Gold Mines in 1944 returned an assay of 1.60 dwt Au across 3 ft. Sylvanite also intersected about 20 feet of sheared material averaging 0.40 dwt/Au in a drill hole completed in 1944. Samples collected from the site by the Pileggi Prospecting Syndicate in the 1940’s returned assays of 0.95 oz/t Au over 28 inches and 2.67 oz/t Au over 30 inches. A chip sample taken from the vein by W. Kerr returned a weighted average of 1.03 oz/t Au at an average width of 0.9 m over a length of 21.0 m. A second chip sample taken from the same vein returned 1.06 oz/t Au over 0.9 m for a length of 21.0 m.
