Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence lies within the western extension of the Cradle Lake Deformation Zone. This domain is a ductile-brittle zone of subparalel, dextral oblique-slip high-strain zones developed within strongly altered and deformed felsic to intermediate metavolcanic rocks.

Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Diorite 1 Diorite Host
Vein 2 Quartz Host

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The showing consists of a strongly sheared zone in massive coarse diorite. The highest gold values were obtained from smal, short lenses of intensely sheared rusty material containing quartz. The shear was stripped but did not appear to have a very long strike length. The shear zone has a maximum strike length of 15 m.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The best assay was obtained from a grab sample taken at the time of discovery in 1944. A trio of samples assay, 0.08 oz/ Au, 4.14 oz/t Au and 036 oz/t Au. Assays obtained by Noranda in 1981 returned 0.002 oz/t Au, 0.05% Cu, 0.12% Zn. Grab samples collected by International Corona returned averaged 305 ppb across 2.38 m. A selected sample containing 30% py from the footwall assayed 1660 ppb Au.
