Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Supracrustal rocks in the immediate Goudreau-Lochalsh district consist of cycle 2 felsic to intermediate, pyroclastic metavolcanics which are capped by pyrite-bearing ironstone. To the north are pillowed , massive and schistose, mafic to intermediate metavolcanics and minor intercalations of mafic pyroclastic rocks of cycle 3. Several medium to coarse grained quartz dioritie to dioritie sills and/or dikes intrude all of the metavolcanic rocks. Along the northern margin of the supracrustal sequence, separating cycle 3 mafic metavolcanic rocks from the external granitoids, are thinly-bedded metasedimentary rocks with iminor intercalations of chert-magnetite ironstone.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The area is underlain by a sequence of mafic to intermediate metavolcanics. A graphitic schist and/or iron formation was uncovered in trenches in the area. The schist contains pyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - A grab sample collected by Bill Nyman returned an assay of 1.2 oz/t Au from a pyrite-rich sample. Samples from trenches completed by Acme Oil and Gas returned values of up to 0.01 oz/t Au, 0.08-0.16% Cu, 0.02-0.68% Zn.
