Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Supracrustal rocks in the immediate Goudreau-Lochalsh district consist of cycle 2 felsic to intermediate, pyroclastic metavolcanics which are capped by pyrite-bearing ironstone. To the north are pillowed , massive and schistose, mafic to intermediate metavolcanics and minor intercalations of mafic pyroclastic rocks of cycle 3. Several medium to coarse grained quartz dioritie to dioritie sills and/or dikes intrude all of the metavolcanic rocks. Along the northern margin of the supracrustal sequence, separating cycle 3 mafic metavolcanic rocks from the external granitoids, are thinly-bedded metasedimentary rocks with iminor intercalations of chert-magnetite ironstone.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Diamond drilling by Umex in the vicinity of this showing intersected a lean iron fomration and a six foot wide quartz and quartz breccia vein. Mapping by International Corona showed that the area is underlain by sheared mafic metavolcanic rocks and iron formation. Narrow quartz veins up to 1.5 m wide and 12 m long were observed within the mafic metavolcanic rocks.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - There were reports of up to 0.02 oz/t Au from iron formation in the vicinity of this showing in 1944. Grab samples collected by International Corona in 1983 returned disappointing values.
