Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence appears to lie in the western extension of the Cradle Lakes Deformation Zone (CLDZ). The CLDZ is subarallel to stratigraphy and occurs largely within feldspar-crystal tuffs. The CLDZ contains a large, east-striking high-strain zone that is up to 40 m wide and has been traced for several hundred metres along strike. The CLDZ occurs close to a major contact between 2750 Ma cycle two and 2700 Ma cycle three metavolcanics. The rocks are characterized by strong alteration, generally confined to zones of high strain and characterized by Fe-carbonatization and sericitization.

Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Felsic Crystal Tuff 1 Rhyolitic Quartz-Felspar Crystal Tuff Host
Vein 2 Quartz-Carbonate Host

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence consists of veinlets of chalcopyrite and pyrite within quartz-veined rhyolite. The rhyolite is sheared and brecciated. The mineralization consists of pyrite and chalcpyrite with smoe malachite staining. Extensive malachite staining has been observed in an outcrop on the east side of Chuck Lake. Brecciation and alteration similar to that observed at the occurrence has been observed in an outcrop approximately 20 feet to the south.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Chip samples collected by Getty returned values of 0.7% and 0.35% Cu over 20 feet. One grab sample returned a value of 0.78% Cu. In 1966, Jogran Mines obtained assays of 0.406% Cu over48 feet from a chip sample and a value of 2.14% Cu from a grab sample.
