Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence lies within the western extension of the Cradle Lake Deformation Zone. This domain is a ductile-brittle zone of subparalel, dextral oblique-slip high-strain zones developed within strongly altered and deformed felsic to intermediate metavolcanic rocks.

Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Schist-Unsubdivided 1 Chlorite, Sericite Host
Intermediate Tuff 2 Tuff Sheared Host

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrences is described as a strongly sheared rusty-weathering felsic tuff. These rocks are altered to quartz-sericite schist. The schist is locally pyritic. The schist is in contact with mafic metavolcanic rocks near the eastern end of the shear.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Selected grab samples collected in 1943 returned values of 0.02 and 0.06 oz/t Au. Only one sample collected by International Corona was considered anomalous in gold (32 ppb). Anomalous values of 20 ppb and 50 ppb Au were encountered in soil samples collected at the east and west end of the shear zone.
