Access Description: The former Murphy Gold minesite is located approximately 6.5 km by overgrown bush road, west of Goudreau. The occurrence is situated approximately 1.3 km SW of the former mine site.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence lies within the western domain of the Goudreau Lake Deformation Zone which is composed of 85 to 115 degree striking brittle and brittle-ductile high-strain zones displaying dextral oblique-slip displacement. The occurrence lies within intermediate to mafic metavolcanic rocks at the sheared margin of the trondhjemititc Gutcher Lake Stock. The vein has been segmented into 3 or 4 sections by right lateral offset across northeast-striking strike-slip faults.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence is described as consisting of a 3 foot wide quartz vein within basic schst. The vein filling consists of ankerite or carbonate, with a few ladder or cross veins of quartz. Sulphides are rare.
