Geology Comments

Nov 02, 2010 (A Wilson) - The occurrence lies along the south margin of the Gutcher Lake Stock. The occurrence lies within the western domain of the Goudreau Lake Deformation Zone. The western domain is composed of 85-115 degree striking brittle and brittle-ductile high strain zones displaying dextral oblique-slip displacement.

Lithology Comments

Nov 02, 2010 (A Wilson) - The 4 parallel veins comprising the occurrence cross-cut the south margin of the Gutcher Lake Stock. The stock is trondhjemitic in composition and displays pyrite-albite-chlorite-sericite-carbonate alteration in the vicinity of the veins. The trondhjemite in the vicinity of the veins is extremely schistose and grades into massive trondhjemite over approximately 2 m. The surrounding rocks were described by Gledhill as consisting of pyritized sericite schist. The Springbank occurrence is located along the contact of the Gutcher Lake stock with intermediate to felsic metavolcanics and iron formation. Two shear directions are evident, a northwest shear parallel to the contact between the metavolcanics and the granodiorite, and an east-west shear oriented sub-parallel to a block of disrupted magnetite facies iron formation.

Mineralization Comments

Nov 02, 2010 (A Wilson) - The vein has been described as containing coarse gold, particularly in those areas where tourmaline has been observed and the wall rocks are particularly sericitized. Assays from the 1961 Ego Mines drilling returned copper values ranging from 0.14% to 2.76% and gold values ranging from 0.01 to 0.13 oz/t Au. Higher assays of gold occur within quartz veins hosting a significant proportion of intensely altered metavolcanics and 5-15% pyrite. Typical assays from the Pele Gold drill program returned: 3.3 g/t Au over 1.88m (PP-DH05-22), 17.9 g/t Au over 2.46 m (PP-DH05-24), 6.1 g/t Au over 4.88 m (PP-DH05-25) and 2.6 g/t Au over 2.15 m (PP-DH06-12). Grab samples from mafic metavolcanic outcrops located outside of the main Springbank Zone and to the south of the Gutcher Lake pluton margin returned 1183 ppb Au and 7695 ppb Cu.
