Access Description: Doherty Lake is accessible by traversing west along the powerline from Goudreau Station for a distance of approximately 3 km. The occurrence is situated on the south shore of the lake.



Exploration History

1927: OGS reports fair gold assays from a vein on the south side of Doherty Lake.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence lies within the western domain of the Goudreau Lake Deformation Zone approximately where there is a flexure from ENE trending to NE trending. The GLDZ is composed of brittle and brittle-ductile high-strain zones displaying dextral oblique-slip displacement. The occurrence lies within the mafic to intermediate metavolcanics of the third cycle of volcanism within the Michipicoten greenstone belt.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - A foot wide quartz vein has observed cutting chlorite schist at the south end of Doherty Lake. The vein occurs at the contact between chloritized mafic metavolcanics and a quartz-feldspar porphyry.
