Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence appears to lie in the western extension of the Cradle Lakes Deformation Zone (CLDZ). The CLDZ is subarallel to stratigraphy and occurs largely within feldspar-crystal tuffs. The CLDZ contains a large, east-striking high-strain zone that is up to 40 m wide and has been traced for several hundred metres along strike. The CLDZ occurs close to a major contact between 2750 Ma cycle two and 2700 Ma cycle three metavolcanics. The rocks are characterized by strong alteration, generally confined to zones of high strain and characterized by Fe-carbonatization and sericitization.

Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Intermediate lava flow-unsubdivided 1 Andesite Host
Breccia-unsubdivided 2 Silicified Host
Vein 3 Quartz Host

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence consists of a quartz vein and silicified breccia zone in massive intermediate metavolcanics at the contact of a northwest trending diabase dike. The breccia zone comprises up to 60% white to greenish quartz.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - A 10 ft sample collected by Leitch Gold Mines from a pit returned assay value of $0.17 per ton gold. Most samples collected by International Corona returned low gold values with the exception of a selected sample of the vein material containing 25% pyrrhotite which assayed 900 ppb gold. Grab samples collected from the trenches by International Corona returned values of 0.047 and 0.045 oz/t Au.
