Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The East Brooks Iron Range is one of the 32 separate iron ranges that constitute the Michipicoten Iron Formation. It consitutes the break between cycle one and cycle two volcanism. To the south lie intermedicate to felsic quartz-feldspar crystal tuffs, sericite schists, feldspar crystal tuffs and bedded tuffs interbedded with intermediate to mafic schists, flows and tuffs. North of the iron range lies a thick sequence of massive and pillowed intermediate to mafic metavolcanic rocks.

Intermediate Tuff | 3 | Tuff | Footwall | |
Mafic lava flow-unsubdivided | 4 | Pillowed To Massive | Hanging Wall |
Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The iron formation consists of massive to banded chert along the north side with a siderite-pyrite zone along the south side. The siderite-pyrite zone is highly variable in width along strike and locally pinches out. Rocks enclosing the iron range are schistose and carbonated. The chloritoid that is commonly observed elsewhere in the township is not present near the East Brooks Range.
