Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Newric Iron Range is presumably one of many segments of the Michipicoten Iron Formation which occurs at the break between cycle one and cycle two volcanism. The positioning of this iron formation in the stratigraphy is uncertain, it may be a relatively local formation.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The iron formation is difficult to trace in outcrop. It has been described as consisting of well-banded silica and siliceous magnetite. Siderite has been reported in the bands at the west end of the iron formation and the iron formation is reportedly more brecciated toward the west.
