Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Key Lake Deformation Zone hosts a series of intense zones of shearing that mainly occur as topographic lows Zones of intense shearing mainly occur along lithologic contacts. Foliation strikes in a northwesterly direction and dips steeply to the north.

Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Quartz-Feldspar Porphyry 1 Quartz-Feldspar Host
Intermediate Tuff 2 Felsic To Intermediate Tuff, Lapilli Tuff, Crystal Tuff Near
Mafic lava flow-unsubdivided 3 Intermediate To Mafic Massive, Pillowed Near
Vein 4 Quartz Host

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Felsic metavolcanic rocks consisting of tuffs, lapilli tuffs and crystal tuffs form a major lithologic unit northwest of Big Lake. Within this area intermediate to mafic metavolcanic rocks are represented by massive to pillowed units striking WNW. At Big Lake is a felsic hypabyssal intrusion. This intrusion may be the cogenetic equivalen of the flesic volcanics that occur west and northwest of the intrusion. The porphyry has undergone a cataclastic style of deformation with local discrete zones of intense deformation.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Channel samples collected by Hemlo from the area returned values up to 4.6 g/t Au over 1 m or 1.3 g/t Au over 10.0 m in a zone that is open at both ends. The best assays from the Band-Ore drilling returned values up to 3.7 g/t Au over 4.5 m.
