Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Felsic metavolcanic rocks consisting of tuffs, lapilli tuffs and crystal tuffs form a major lithologic unit northwest of Big Lake. Within this area intermediate to mafic metavolcanic rocks are represented by massive to pillowed units striking WNW. At Big Lake is a felsic hypabyssal intrusion. This intrusion may be the cogenetic equivalen of the flesic volcanics that occur west and northwest of the intrusion. The porphyry has undergone a cataclastic style of deformation with local discrete zones of intense deformation.
