Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The diamond occurrences appear to be restricted to a D1 recumbent nappe in the west-central portion of the Michipicoten greenstone belt. The nappe is imbricated by south-vergin reverse faults. The direction of nappe transport is from south to north and it lies immediately north and adjacent to the Kapuskasing Structural Zone. This thrusting and shortening may be related to the tectonic events along the Kapuskasing Structural Zone. The western limit of the nappe is likely the Dickenson Lake fault that passes to the west of the Dickenson Lake stock. The nappe is not likely to extend east beyond the Marsden Fault.

Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Lamprophyre-Unsubdivided 1 Xenolith-Bearing Host
Breccia-unsubdivided 2 Diatreme Host

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The dike contains 10% actinolite xenoliths and a minor amount of supracrustal fragments. The dike is hosted by a diatreme or breccia composed of 95% angular fragments of agglomeratic felsic tuff and 5% very fine-grained mafic matrix. The dike contains 10% well-rounded oblate actinolite xenoliths with thin reactions rims.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - A 28.3 kg sample collected by Spider Resources yielded 6 microdiamonds, 1 macrodiamond and 3 commercial stones. A larger 164.7 kg sample of the dike returned 81 microdiamonds, 11 macordiamonds and 3 commercial stones. Most of the diamonds were described as yellowe, transparent fragments, however a few octahedrons and cubes also were reported.
