Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The diamond occurrences appear to be restricted to a D1 recumbent nappe in the west-central portion of the Michipicoten greenstone belt. The nappe is imbricated by south-vergin reverse faults. The direction of nappe transport is from south to north and it lies immediately north and adjacent to the Kapuskasing Structural Zone. This thrusting and shortening may be related to the tectonic events along the Kapuskasing Structural Zone. The western limit of the nappe is likely the Dickenson Lake fault that passes to the west of the Dickenson Lake stock. The nappe is not likely to extend east beyond the Marsden Fault.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The discovery outcrop consists of a xenolith-bearing lamprophyre dike injected into intermediate tuffaceous metavolcanic rocks. The dike is thought to be 8-20 m thick and may extend for over a kilometer based on exploration information available to date.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The initial sample from the discovery outcrop yielded a total of 45 diamonds of which 10 were macrodiamonds, including one stone measuring 1.01 mm in one dimmednsion (sample wieth 63.4 kg). A second sample collected 0.5 km away yielded 9 macrodimaonds from 70.5 kg. Two samples collected by Band-Ore yielded 98 microdiamonds from 54.6 kg and 2 micordiamonds from 53.8 kg. All stones are reported to be clear and colourless. A total of 533 daimonds were recored from 6 diamond drill core samples. The composite samples weighed 219.03 kg. Additional sampling in the vicinity of the discovery showing has shown the presence of diamonds in a 100 m vicinity of the original showing.
