Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The property is located on the southern edge of the Michipicoten greenstone blet, within the margin of the Hawk Lake Intrusive Complex. The property is underlain by approximately equal proportions of felsic to mafic intursive rocks (Hawk Lake Complex) and felsic to mafic metavolcanic rocks. some of the metavolcanics occur as rafted blocks within the intrusive complex. Gold mineralization occurs within quartz veins and stringers associated with ENE-trending shears. The shears are highly deformed and display a silicified, ankeritized and sericitiezed cor, flanked by strongly carbonated wall rocks.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence lies at the north contact of a quartz porphyry intrusion at the north end of Reed Lake. Both the porphyry and the surrounding intermediate to felsic metavolcanic rocks have been strongly sheared in an ENE direction. Quartz veining is best developed at the intersection between the Reed Lake Fault and the shear zone. The occurrence consists of a complex system of relatively flat-quartz stringer and vein system.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Gold values are erratic across the vein. The main vein has assayed 1.62 oz/t Au over 1.25 m. A bulk sample reportedly processed in 1937 had an anvera grade of 0.43 oz/t Au. The best grab samples taken from the vein by the OGS returned 0.48 oz/t Au.
