Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Bartlett-Josephine iron range is a typical Michipicoten-style iron formation occurring at the top of cycle one intermediate to mafic metavolcanics and at the base of cycle two intermediate to mafic metavolcnaic rocks. The iron range is terminated on the east by the Marsden Fault which has juxtaposed granite next to the iron formation. The stratigraphy of the iron formation is north-facing. On the north, the iron formation is in contact with clastic metasedimentary rocks that have been metamorphosed to biotite schist. To the south the rocks consist of brecciated intermediate to felsic metavolcanic rocks.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The iron formation consists of strongly banded carbonate facies iron formation. Chert is finely to coarsely banded or brecciated. The siderite-pyrite deposits occur to the footwall side of the iron formation. It consists of siderite at the stratigraphic bottom grading upward through pyrite and chert.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The average grade of the iron formation in 1911 was estimated to be 40.72% Fe, 4.61% Si, 3.54% S and 0.008% Ph. Between the depth of 2714 and 2810 feet the grade was estimated to be 41.02% Fe, 7.55% Si, 17.48% S, 1.75% Mn. It was estimated that a sinter of 58.36% Fe could be produced from the siderite.
