Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Judith Iron Range is believed to be the western extension of the Kathleen Iron Range. The Judith-Kathleen iron formation caps the intermediate to felsic metavolcanic rocks of the 2900 Ma cycle of volcanism. The Judith iron range occurs at the soouthwest end of the iron formation in McMurray Tp. and the Kathleen Iron Range is located at the northeast end in Esquega Township. Numerous discontinuous unnamed segments of iron formation occur at the equivalent stratigraphic position between the two iron ranges.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The northern part of the iron formation consists of thin bedded laminated grey to black chert. The southern part of the iron formation consists of sulphide-facies iron formation which is locally massive. The iron formation faces north based on the topping direction of local pillows.
