Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Iron Lake Deformation Zone consists of an anastomosing series of brittle-ductile shear zones which enclose relatively undeformed lthons. The ILDZ transects Iron lake in an easterly trend across Keating Township with a minimum width of 300 m. It occurs at the top of the metavolcanic sequence in the northern terrrane and below the Iron Lake Iron Formation. To the east, the zone appears to turn to the northeast parallel to Heart Lake.

Intermediate Tuff 3 Tuff, Sheared Near

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence consists of two parallel bands of oxide and sulphide facies iron formation. Interbedded jasper-magnetite and jasper-hematite have both been observed at the site. The southern band is described as being more impoverished than the northern band. To the north, the iron formation is in contact with sheared mafic to intermediate metavolcanics.
