Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Brotherton Iron Range is presently considered to be a portion of a continuous iron range that includes the Frances Mine Prospect. The iron range consists of banded, fractured and brecciated chert and thin bands of siderite. Scattered bands of rusty limonite and seams of hematite have also been observed. The south side of the iron range is in contact with quartz-feldspar crystal tuff and lapilli tuff. North of the iron range there is extensive development of Dore type metasediments separated from the iron formation by a thin sequence of intermediate to mafic metavolcanics.
