Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - A massive pyritiferous quartz vein reportedly lies close to the contact between conglomerate and intermediate to felsic metavolcanic rocks. The quartz vein has been interpreted to be a certy carbonate facies iron formation by the Ontario Geological Survey. The iron formation consists of massive recrystallized chert, ankerite and pods of massive pyrite. Cellular of boxwork textures are prominent within the iron formation. Thin quartz and tourmaline stringers cross cut the formation.
