Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The strike length of the RLDZ is 8 km and the maximum width is 1 km. The RLDZ is centred within a clastic metasedimentary rock sequence which exhibits sheared contacts with felsic intrusive rocks to the north and mafic metavolcanics to the south. The style of deformation and alteration observed in the RLDZ is similar to, yet not as intensely developed as the MDZ. The penetrative foliation strikes 285, dips moderately steeply to the north. Variable trending, moderately to steeply plunging stretchin lineations are commonly obscured or overprinted by crenulation lineattions. The RLDZ possesses structural characteristics similar to the other deformation zones in the belt. Felsic intrusive dikes/sills are common and concentrated within the central and northern parts of the zone, ranging in thickness from centimetres to several hundred metres.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The sedimentary units vary from greywacke to siltstone to locally argillite. The sediments are well laminated and display a well developed foliation. Locally the sediments have been hghly deformed and show well developed kink banding. A zone of mederate to strong ankerite altered siltstones up to 100 m wide have been exposed in a series of trenches. The trenching covered a highly folded, fold nose area which has been intruded by feldspar porphyry and quartz veins.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The highest value obtained by Battle Mountain Gold, from the trench was 8.66 g/t Au over 1.0 m. A grab sample taken 2.0 m to the NW from the same vein returned an assay of 0.80 g/t Au. Grab samples from the same vicinity previously returned values as high as 22.0 g/t Au.
