Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Deformation and alteration styles of the western MDZ, immediately west of Macassa Creek, are similar to the central MDZ. However, the intensity of strain and alteration decreases further to the west approaching the contact with the Pukaskwa Batholith. The MDZ swings with the stratigraphy, striking approximately 220 at Scuzzy Little Lake where stretching lineations plunge to the west. Folds, crenulations and kinkbands are not as common as in the central MDZ. The Scuzzy Little Lake area lies within the contact metamorphic aureole of the Pukaskwa Batholith.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Elevated gold values are returned from narrow veins and quartz stringers hosted by a pyritized-felsic tuff or felsic tuffaceous metasediment. Biotitic and sericitic alteration are pervasive. Above the mineralized zone, the metasediments or tuffs are intruded by narrow (3-5 m) dikes/sills of metagabbro now sheared to biotite-calcite schist. Below the tuffaceous rocks, the sheared and unsheared metasandstones return elevated gold values. The drill hole and surface grab samples were collected within 25 m of the western boundary of a diabase dike.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Grab samples collected by Dominion Explorers returned assays of 0.47 oz/t Au and 0.58 oz/t Au. Assays from drill hole MAC-87-24 returned values rangig from 0.02 oz/t Au over 20 ft to 0.062 oz/t Au over 1.2 ft.
