Geology Comments

Sep 24, 2016 (A Wilson) - The Emily Bay Deformation Zone (EBDZ) is located on the west side of Dog Lake in southern Riggs Township. The EBDZ is a 500 m wide, east-northeast trending zone of intense ductile shearing and weakly to strongly strained rocks. The EBDZ can be traced up to 4 km to the southwest of Dog Lake but cannot be traced to the eastern side of Dog Lake. The EBDZ is localized within massive to pillowed mafic metavolcanic rocks that are deformed to chlorite-calcite and chlorite-iron carbonate schists within several discrete ductile shear zones. These shear zones are NE-trending and vary in width from 1 m to greater than 30 m. A second set of narrow, brittle to ductile, NW-trending shear zones is observed in the vicinity of this showing.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Parallel to subparallel quartz veins were observed in both sheared carbonate altered intermediate metavolcanics and at the contact between a diabase and sheared intermediate metavolcanics. The veins range from 9-10 inches in width. To the southwest, the veins narrow to 2 inches in width, or appear as discontinuous lenses of quartz.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - A grab sample collected by H. Charlebois reportedly assayed 4.85 oz/t Au. Grab samples collected by the OGS in 1945 returned an assay of 0.94 oz/t Au. To the west, on former claim SSM 13280, the OGS obtained an assay of 0.07 oz/t Au from a grab sample.
