Jul 24, 2013 (A Wilson) - The McKewen Lake Deformation Zone (MLDZ) is a 1.5 km wide, SE-trending zone of strongly deformed mafic to intermediate and felsic to intermediate metavolcanic rocks, which can be traced from McKewen Lake in the northern part of West Township, southeastwards to the northwestern corner of Stover Township. Discrete 120-130º trending ductile shear zones are common throughout the MLDZ, but only a small number of shear zones are greater than 1 m.

Jul 24, 2013 (A Wilson) - The property is underlain by intermediate tuffs and breccias. A quartz vein ranges between 4 inches and 30 inches in width and extends for 100 feet along a N60W strike. Diamond drilling to the west of the property by Mattagami Lake Explorations in 1982 intersected approximately 3 m of oxide and sulphide facies iron formation which contained pyrrhotite. The Cascaden occurrence may be the surface expression of this iron formation.

Jul 24, 2013 (A Wilson) - The wall rocks along the vein are slightly silicified and carry minor disseminated pyrite. Narrow seams of white carbonate along joints and fractures carry minor disseminated pyrrhotite and traces of pyrite, galena, sphalerite and chalcopyrite. Grab samples collected by J. Barry in 1992 returned values of 724 ppb Au and 3050 ppb. Two samples collected from the feldspar porphyry returned only background gold values.
