Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The McKewen Lake Deformation Zone (MLDZ) is a 1.5 km wide, SE-trending zone of strongly deformed mafic to intermediate and felsic to intermediate metavolcanic rocks, which can be traced from McKewen Lake in the northern part of West Township, southeastwards to the northwestern corner of Stover Township. Discrete 120-130 degree trending ductile shear zones are common throughout the MLDZ, but only a small number of shear zones are greater than 1 m.

Lithology Comments

Jul 24, 2013 (A Wilson) - The showing consists of intermediate metavolcanics cut by narrow quartz stringers. A two-foot wide quartz vein bordered by a felsite dike has also been observed. The quartz stringers and vein contain minor pyrite, tourmaline and chlorite.
