Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The McKewen Lake Deformation Zone (MLDZ) is a 1.5 km wide, SE-trending zone of strongly deformed mafic to intermediate and felsic to intermediate metavolcanic rocks, which can be traced from McKewen Lake in the northern part of West Township, southeastwards to the northwestern corner of Stover Township. Discrete 120-130 degree trending ductile shear zones are common throughout the MLDZ, but only a small number of shear zones are greater than 1 m.

Lithology Comments

Jul 22, 2013 (A Wilson) - The showing consists of several lenses of disseminated sphalerite, pyrite and pyrrhotite in weakly sheared felsic lapilli and crystal tuffs with weak to moderate sericitic and silicic alteration. Feldspar porphyry dikes crosscut all of the lithologies and trend through the area betweeen 300 and 325º azimuth and dip to the southwest at 60 to 85º. All of these units are cut by vertical diabase dikes that trend through the property at 340º.

Mineralization Comments

Jul 22, 2013 (A Wilson) - T. Nicholson collected samples yielding 5.56% Zn. Eight grab samples collected by Freewest in 1998 returned values ranging from 2.19% to 6.6% Zn and 740 ppb to 5590 ppb Au. A 3 foot section of pyritized intermediate metavolcanic rocks assayed >10000 ppm Zn in drill hole TN-001. The sphalerite occurs in fine-grained, reddish-purple splashes within finer dissemination sof pyrite and pyrrhotite.
