Geology Comments

Sep 24, 2016 (A Wilson) - The Emily Bay Deformation Zone (EBDZ) is located on the west side of Dog Lake in southern Riggs Township. The EBDZ is a 500 m wide, east-northeast trending zone of intense ductile shearing and weakly to strongly strained rocks. The EBDZ can be traced up to 4 km to the southwest of Dog Lake but cannot be traced to the eastern side of Dog Lake. The EBDZ is localized within massive to pillowed mafic metavolcanic rocks that are deformed to chlorite-calcite and chlorite-iron carbonate schists within several discrete ductile shear zones. These shear zones are NE-trending and vary in width from 1 m to greater than 30 m. A second set of narrow, brittle to ductile, NW-trending shear zones is observed in the vicinity of this showing.

Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Gabbro 1 Gabbro Host
Tonalite 2 Trondhjemite To Granodiorite Near

Lithology Comments

Sep 24, 2016 (A Wilson) - The showing is hosted by a medium to coarse-grained gabbro. This gabbro has been intruded by the trondhjemitic to granodioritic Albert Lake Stock. To the south the gabbro is in contact with mafic metavolcanic rocks. The gabbro may be interpreted as the centre of a massive flow.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Two grab samples collected from rusty gabbro returned assays of: 0.325% Ni, 243 ppm Pt; and 0.129% Ni, 34 ppm Pt. Channel samples taken by Shelagh Resources were unable to replicate the results. The best result from the channel sampling was 0.09% Ni.
