Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Mineralization is hosted by a shear zone located at the contact between vesiculated mafic metavolcanic rocks and gabbro. The better grade gold mineralization occurs as pods or shoots associated with shearing and brecciation at the contact zones between the two rock types and extending some distance into the host rocks. The zones contain abundant quartz bands, veins, stringers, pods and lenses. Biotite and chlorite are pervasive and carbonate is a common alteration product.

Mineralization Comments

Oct 17, 2014 (A Wilson) - Grab samples collected along the vein in 1940 returned the following assays: 0.06 oz/t Au over 4 ft, 0.04 oz/t Au over 1 ft; 0.34 oz/t Au over 1.5 ft; 0.48 oz/t Au over 3.6 ft; 0.58 oz/t au over 7 ft; 0.32 oz/t Au over 11 ft; 0.17 oz/t Au over 7 ft. Channel samples collected by Kingswood in 1981 returned values of 0.15 oz/t Au over 2.7 ft; 0.05 oz/t Au over 11.1 ft; 0.10 oz/t Au over 7.7 ft. Bulk samples collected by Kingswood in 1981 returned assays of: 0.05 oz/t Au over 5 ft and 0.19 oz/t Au over 8 ft. Diamond drilling by Kingswood in 1981 made the following intersections: 0.07 oz/t Au over 12 ft; 0.01 oz/t Au over 6.5 ft; 0.03 oz/t Au over 10 ft; 0.06 oz/t Au ver 4 ft; 0.31 oz/t Au over 31 ft. The diamond drilling completed by Conquest Yellowknife in 1987 returned the following intersections: 0.41 oz/t Au over 3.8 ft; 0.096 oz/t Au over 0.8 ft; 0.04 oz/t Au over 3 ft. The shear zone is approximately 20 feet wide and strikes 100° and dips about 90°.A section of the vein between trenches 14 and 19 returned an average of 0.28 oz/t. This section measured 115 ft by 8 ft and was considered to be a possible ore shoot. A 2.5 ft sample yielded 1.52 oz/t Au and 0.14 oz/t Ag from trench 19. A 3 ft wide channel sample yielded 0.54 oz/t Au at the extreme east end of the vein. A second ore shoot also was suggested between trenches 6 and 12. This section measured 190 ft in length and 0.175 ft wide. A grab sample of quartz from trench 6 returned 1.70 oz/t Au and a grab sample of the schist yielded 2.38 oz/t Au. A 4 ft wide sample from the same trench yielded 0.38 oz/t Au. Grab samples from trench 12 returned values ranging from 0.04 oz/t Au over 2 ft to 0.24 oz/t Au over 2 ft.
