Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Cradle Lakes Deformation Zone is at least 5 km in length and rouchly 1-2 km wide, but may be up to 10 km in total length. The CLDZ is subparallel to stratigraphy and occurs largely within fedlspar-crystal tuffs, which in many places are difficult to distinguish fromthe cradle Lakes stock, a feldspar porphyry intrusion adjacent to and partially within the CLDZ. The CLDZ contains a large, east-striking high stain zone that is up to 40 m wide and has been traced for several hundred metres along strike.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The log of a diamond drill hole completed by Hollinger in 1938 indcate that the host rock is dark green and contains a few opalescent phenocrysts. Gold values were obtained both from the host rock as well as from quartz stringers and veins within the intrusive. This log identifies the rock as granodiorite. The showing consists of a flat-lying quartz vein as well as a second flat-lying quartz vein located approximately 575 feet to the south of the first. The quartz veins generally occupy a sheared section of the diorite to granodioritic unit. The OGS has mapped the intrusive as a quartz-feldspar porphyry intrusion.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Channel samples collected by Hollinger in 1938 returned 1.34 oz/t Au over 22 inches. Erie Canadian sampled the showing and obtained values ranging from trace to $32.00. Channel samples collected by Mascot Gold Mines returned 0.116 oz/t Au over 1.12 m from the north trench, 0.235 oz/t Au over 0.32 m and 0.051 oz/t Au over 0.83 m. Both of the latter results were from the south trench. A grab sample collected by the OGS in 1988 returned an assay of 0.28 oz/t Au and 1.49% Cu. A grab sample collected by Sears in 1998 returned 33.16 g/t Au. Two 20kg samples from the vein returned a combined grade of 9.65 g/t Au.

May 07, 2019 (Sheree Hinz) - Gold mineralization occurs in quartz veins associated with a 085 degree-striking high-strain zone developed within diorite to quartz diorite rocks. The vein is reported to be 75 feet long, average 22 inches in width and have a shallow 20 degree dip to the north. The auriferous veins contain several percent chalcopyrite and are ribboned with chlorite and tourmaline.

Alteration Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The intrusive rocks adjacent to the vein system are altered to chlorite+iron carbonate+green mica schists.

Notes: Two ductile high-strain zone orientations were observed to host alteration and quartz veins. An 080-085 degree dextral and an 040-045 degree sinistral high strain zones were observed. The 040 zone cross cuts the 080 zone. Outside these zones, the granodiorite exhibits a strong brittle fracture pattern.
