Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence lies within the Northern Domain of the Goudreau Lake Deformation Zone. The GLDZ is up to 4.5 km in width and strikes in a gentle sigmoid-form for at least 30 km, subparallel to the stratigraphy and the regional foliation. In the immediate Goudreau-Lochalsh area, the GLDZ is coincident with a major contact between Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 volcanics. There is a strong structural control of the gold-bearing quartz veins systms within each of the 070-075 striking high-strain zones within the deformation zone. The Northern Domain of the GLDZ is located immediately south of the Maskinonge Lake stock and is composed of brittle to brittle-ductile high-strain zones oriented at high angles to the 70 degree striking regional foliation These narrow brittle to ductile high-strain zones are up to tens of metres wide and may contain concordant quartz veins, and millimetre- to centimetre-scale brittle shears or fractures. The NE striking high-strain zones display sinistral, oblique-slip displacement, while the NW-striking shears display dextral, olblique-slip displacement.

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Mafic lava flow-unsubdivided 1 Host
Intermediate lava flow-unsubdivided 2 Host

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence lies at the sheared contact between mafic and intermediate metavolcanic rocks. Mapping by exploration companies in the area identified a granitic intrusion which has been more recently interpreted to be an injection of granodiorite from the nearby Webb Lake Stock.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Assays obtained by Texron Copper were 2.4% Cu, 0.01% Ni over 5 ft; 0.26 oz/t Ag, 0.25% Cu, 0.27% Pb over 5 ft; 0.2 oz/t Ag, 1.25% Cu, 0.05% Pb over 5 ft and 2.5% Cu and 0.04% Pb over 5 ft in a series of trenches. A single drill hole completed by Texron in 1968 intersected 0.43% Cu over 17.5 ft.
