Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Cradle Lakes Deformation Zone is at least 5 km in length and rouchly 1-2 km wide, but may be up to 10 km in total length. The CLDZ is subparallel to stratigraphy and occurs largely within fedlspar-crystal tuffs, which in many places are difficult to distinguish fromthe cradle Lakes stock, a feldspar porphyry intrusion adjacent to and partially within the CLDZ. The CLDZ contains a large, east-striking high stain zone that is up to 40 m wide and has been traced for several hundred metres along strike.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Massive aphanitic to medium-grained and pillowed metavolcanics form the predominant lithology at the site. The showing is hosted by a sheared and altered sulphide facies iron formation with late-stage quartz-carbonate veining. The property hosts two structures a splay off of the Cawdron Lake Fault and an east trending shear that is coincident with the iron formation. The shear appears to be coincident with the base of a pillowed sequence. At least two lamprophyre dikes were intersected during the 1987 diamond drilling program.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The OGS reported an assay of 0.40 oz/t Au from quartz veins in a rusty schist in 1926. Sampling of the old trenches by Leitch Gold Mines in 1943-44 returned values from 0.02-1.36 oz/t Au across widths from 0.5 to 4 feet along a strike length of 210 feet. The best assay from the 1944 diamond drill program was 0.2 oz/t Au over 1.7 feet. In 1993 the OGS obtained values of less than 0.01 oz/t Au and 0.11 oz/t Au from grab samples taken from the iron formation. Assys up to 1.31 oz/t Au were obtained from the iron formation by Mascot Gold Mines in 1987.
