Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Cradle Lakes Deformation Zone is at least 5 km in length and rouchly 1-2 km wide, but may be up to 10 km in total length. The CLDZ is subparallel to stratigraphy and occurs largely within fedlspar-crystal tuffs, which in many places are difficult to distinguish fromthe cradle Lakes stock, a feldspar porphyry intrusion adjacent to and partially within the CLDZ. The CLDZ contains a large, east-striking high stain zone that is up to 40 m wide and has been traced for several hundred metres along strike.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The anomaly was drilled by Umex in 1976. The drillhole intersected a sequence of mafic to intermediate massive to tuffaceous metavolcanics and a unit of interbedded argillites, mudstones and graphitic shales. All units contain sulphides but the metasedimentary layer was found to contain concordant bands, nodules and specks of pyrrhotite, pyrite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite.
