Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (R Tuomi) - The western part of this outcrop consists of quatrz-eye tuff locally refered to as the 'Barren Sulphide Zone'. Disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite occur for 5m on either side of the contact with overlying metasediments. The conductive unit can be traced by VLF EM and serves as a stratigraphic marker horizon. In many places the tuff contains sericite and minor green mica. Deformation is most intense along the contact between tuff and metasediments; the state of strain can be observed in a boudinaged mafic dike. Within the Barren Sulphide Zone, bedding in the tuff is at an angle of 20 to 30 degrees to the metamorphic foliation, and sulphides occur within the foliation plane. The eastern part of the outcrop consists of folded and boudinaged, calc-silicates and pelites in metasiltstone. The pelite contains garnet, staurolite, sillmanite, cordierite, and anthophyillite. The calc-silicates consist of calcium-rich amphibole, commonly on the margins of boudins and layers, and calcium-rich plagioclaise.

Mineralization Comments

Jan 12, 2016 (Therese Pettigrew) - Grab samples returned assays of 0.51, 0.02 and <0.01 ounce per ton Au (Patterson, 1984). 10-20 cm massive pyrite and pyrrhotite, 10% disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite. Very erratic, rare Au values up to 17.48 gpt Au, but most samples return null values of gold (M2614).
