Mar 27, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - Milne (1968) reported that “one band of extensive pyrite mineralization, which is of an unusual type, is exposed over a distance of about 9000 feet between the Black River and the Awmri Lake road and west of Petrant Lake. The pyrite occurs as disseminations, streaks, and small lenses in a distinctive band of quartzo-feldspathic muscovite paragneiss, which is in contact with a band of pillowed mafic metavolcanics rocks to the north.” Soil sampling carried out by Noranda in 1984 showed an anomaly with up to 50 ppb Au in the area north of the NE end of Petrant Lake (Assessment file 42C13SW0132).
