Location Method: Data Compilation
Access Description: The occurrence is located on St. Ignace Island in Lake Superior, on the east shore of McEachan Lake. Access is by watercraft from Nipigon to St. Ignace Island or by aircraft to McEachan Lake.
1975: found by OGS staff J. Giguere while mapping. 1991: Prospecting and sampling was conducted by D. Parker and B. D'Silva.

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - The occurrence is classed as a 'volcanic-hosted copper' deposit. Giguere (1975) writes that 'on the eastern shore of McEachan Lake, 4.4 km from the south end of the lake, cobbles and pebbles containing native copper were found in the glacial drift. The native copper occurs in pieces of prehnite. The copper-bearing prehnite cobbles and pebbles are common, but the source of the material could not be found.
