Access Description: The occurrence is located on Sox Creek, about 3.2 km northwest of Sox Lake, approximately 17 km northwest of Schreiber (claim map G-606, Pays Plat Lake Area). Easiest access may be gained by air to Sox Lake. The Winston Lake Mine Road passes 5 km to the east.
1953-61: Staked and held by various individuals. No work recorded. 1970: Restaked by R.W. Pitkanen; all interest was transferred to Briar Court Mines Ltd. Surface exploration, trenching and sampling was undertaken. 1971: A working option on the property was taken by Zenmac Metal Mines Ltd. who continued the trenching and sampling program on claims TB 252333 and 276091 (these claims lapsed in 1972 and 1971, respectively). 1972: R.W. Pitkanen restaked the showing (TB 314649). 1974 Claims TB 384502 and 384503 staked by J.E. Halonen. 1977: Halonen restaked the showing as TB 464748 and 464749. 1979: An option agreement was signed between Halonen and Long Lac Mineral Exploration Ltd. Four diamond drill holes, aggregating 306 m were drilled on TB 464748 and 464749. A geochemical survey was conducted. 1982: Option agreement was dissolved and the claims lapsed. Area was restaked and all interest was transferred to Noranda Exploration Company Ltd. 1983: Airborne geophysical (electromagnetic, magnetometer) survey was conducted. 1990: Property was staked and sampled by R. Angove and W, Holmstead. 2014: J. Ternowesky conducted prospecting and sampling.

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - The local geology is described by Carter (1981d): A molybdenum copper showing known as the Halonen Showing located in the northwestern part of the map area consists of stringer and disseminated molybdenite and chalcopyrite in a migmatized contact zone between foliated amphibolite and biotite feldspar schist, and biotite 'granite'. The mineralized zone is about 46 m wide and the mineralization is concentrated in quartz veins, stringers, lenses, and ptygmatic veins. Similar mineralization occurs 274 m to the south. Sections of the 1979 Long Lac Mineral Exploration Ltd. diamond drilling revealed the presence of what were termed granite gneiss, feldspar porphyry, chlorite schist and pegmatite and lamprophyre dykes.

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - The granite gneiss, equivalent to Carter's (1981d) 'biotite feldspar schist', is pink to grey and has a schistosity or gneissosity developed in feldspar, quartz and biotite. The feldspar porphyry is medium to dark grey, partly fractured and brecciated and may represent an altered phase of the gneiss. The metavolcanics consist of a light to dark green chloritic mica schist which is cut by numerous quartz veinlets and lenses. (Resident Geologist's Files, Schreiber Hemlo District, Thunder Bay.)

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - The majority of the mineralization occurs as molybdenite and chalcopyrite in quartz veins and as seams parallel to schistosity, sometimes attaining concentrations of up to 20% molybdenite, and 10% chalcopyrite in these narrow (1 to 10 km) sections. These sulphides, as well as pyrite, may also occur as disseminated grains in all the rocks. Chlorite and/or pyrite rosettes may also be developed in variably oriented fractures. Sampling by Briar Court Mines Ltd. in 1970 returned the following assays: Pit No. 2: 0.34 Cu (%), 5.04 Mo (%), quartz Pit No. 3: 0.34 Cu (%), 6.40 Mo (%), quartz granite contact Pit No. 6: 5.52 Cu (%), 0.06 Mo (%), quartz granite contact Pit No. 6: 3.51 Cu (%), 1.14 Mo (%), quartz granite contact Pit No. 6: 0.50 Cu (%), 0.08 Mo (%), quartz granite contact Pit No. 6: 0.37 Cu (%), 3.06 Mo (%), 'amphibolite' Pit No. 7: 0.18 Cu (%), 2.76 Mo (%), 'amphibolite' Pit No. 8: 0.18 Cu (%), 1.11 Mo (%), 'amphibolite' Pit No. 8: 0.11 Cu (%), 0.04 Mo (%), 'amphibolite' Pit No. 8: 0.27 Cu (%), 1.38 Mo (%), 'amphibolite' Pit No. 9: 0.89 Cu (%), 0.05 Mo (%), granite 'amphibolite' contact Pit No. 9: 0.22 Cu (%), 0.06 Mo (%), granite 'amphibolite' contact. A sample assayed by Resident Geologist personnel returned: 90 BRA 1 - 0.006 Gold (ounce/ton), 0.31 Silver (ounce/ton) , 1.69 Copper (%) - Sugary quartz vein, cp, py, mo.
