Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - Hopkins (1922, p.23) noted that: W.S. Jackson discovered small pockets of copper pyrites in Keewatin green schist on the east shore of Ellis Lake. Mapping by Carter (1981c) indicated that these aforementioned showings would be located on the southeastern shoreline of Ellis Lake, which is underlain by aphanitic mafic metavolcanics. Carter's (1981c) Ellis Lake occurrence is located immediately north of the felsic intrusive mafic metavolcanic contact which is delineated by the Ellis Lake fault. The showing is underlain by (hornblende) syenite diorite and lies within a mineralized northeasterly trending shear (zone). (Resident Geologist's Files, Schreiber Hemlo District, Thunder Bay).

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - Carter (1981c) noted that: Gold in amounts of 0.01 ounces per ton and greater were obtained from previously known areas and also from mineralized northeasterly trending shears such as the Ellis Lake Occurrence.
