Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - The area is underlain by massive mafic metavolcanic rocks. Quartz feldspar porphyry dikes intrude the metavolcanic rocks. A narrow (<10 cm wide) rusty, silicified shear zone in mafic metavolcanics was observed. The shear zone strikes 57 degrees and dips vertically. A ribbon or mylonitic texture was observed and near massive pyrite was observed in euhedral aggregates. The rusty zone was moderately magnetic. A pink to white weathering quartz feldspar dike contains well developed orthogonal jointing and rusty, pyritized surfaces. A small en echelon quartz vein was also present.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - Five grab samples (89 BWA 07 to 11) of sheared metavolcanics, quartz feldspar porphyry and quartz vein were sampled. The highest assay returned 0.003 ounce per ton Au and a trace of silver.

May 31, 2018 (Therese Pettigrew) - The W2 Occurrence, located on line 3+90W at 26+00N, has been exposed for 11 metres and consists of a 50 cm wide rusty weathering banded iron formation. The banded iron formation contains 2-3% fine grained pyrite and pyrrhotite in contact with fine-grained gabbro. Three chip samples were taken across the BIF and they returned trace gold values (AFRI 42D14SE0044).
