Access Description: The occurrence lies immediately north of Highway 17 north of Rongie Lake, in Killraine Township, about 2.4 km west of Schreiber (Map G 625) Highway 17 crosses the property and the Dickenson Mines drill hole is collared approximately 168 m north of the highway, south of a small lake.



Exploration History

1960-1962: Staked and held by R.W. Pitkanen; no work was recorded. 1964: A claim group was staked by Halonen and Pitkanen. 1965: All interest was transferred to Mid North Engineering Services Ltd. Dickenson Mines completed one diamond drill hole (31 m). 1967: Claims lapsed. 1983: TB 757235 was staked to cover the occurrence by R. Collins. 1984: All interest was transferred to R.A. Schiralli; claims lapsed.

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - Drilling by Dickenson Mines intersected what was termed a coarse grained grey to pink (biotite) granite with occasional quartz stringers and mafic dyke rocks. (Resident Geologist's Files, Schreiber Hemlo District, Thunder Bay) Carter (1981a) has mapped the local rocks as hornblende ? biotite syenite, quartz syenite and (massive, pink) hornblende ? biotite granite.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - Drill sections noted the presence of usually weak pyrite, molybdenite and chalcopyrite mineralization in narrow (1 2 cm) quartz stringers and as disseminations in the host rock. (Resident Geologist's Files, Schreiber Hemlo District, Thunder Bay).
