A trail leads west to a distance of approximately 100 m to the trenched area.

Exploration History

1922: TB 3921 staked by L.M. Crain who carried out unspecified work until 1925. 1925: Restaked by G. Singleton as TB 4769. Singleton and R. Gray carried out surface trenching and sampling. 1931: Claim was patented. 1966-1969: Claims TB 126917 and 132337 (mining rights only) staked by R.W. Pitkanen and M. Pitkanen, respectively. 1969: R.W. Pitkanen staked TB 139095. 1970: Mechanical and manual stripping, surface trenching undertaken. Five diamond drill holes, aggregating 243.2 m were drilled. 1971: TB 139095 lapsed and was restaked by R.W. Pitkanen as TB 287071. 1972: Manual work was resumed. 1973: Pitkanen's claim lapsed and was restaked by J.E. Halonen as TB 350199. Blasting and trenching ensured, resulting in a trench 9.14 m long, 1.5 m wide and 3.0 m deep. 1975: Claims lapsed. 1979: Examined by M.W. Carter of the Ontario Geological Survey during the course of field mapping. 1981: TB 560999 (M.R.O.) staked by A. Wilson. 1983: All interest was transferred to New Ambrose Resources Inc. 1984: Joint ownership of nine claim group (including TB 560999) was attained by New Ambrose, J. E. Bond II, and D. Mocnik except for TB 786103, owned by L. G. McMillan; all nine claims were optioned to GLE Resources Ltd. and Lincoln Resources Inc. Soil, rock chip and humus geochemical sampling was conducted over the claim group. An airborne geophysical (VLF EM, EM, magnetometer) survey was conducted. 2005: R. Renner carried out prospecting and mapping.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - The occurrence is first noted by Harcourt (1939 p.27): On claim TB 4769, about a mile (1.6 km) south of Schreiber, a similar (Morley high grade type) carbonate vein containing a considerable amount of galena was discovered by George Singleton and Robert Gray. The vein is narrow and has not been exposed along the strike; it is said to yield silver on assay.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - Carter (1981a) reports that: Mineralization encountered in the course of Pitkanen's diamond drilling was not recorded. Disseminated chalcopyrite mineralization was observed in the trench by the author during the current 1979 mapping. McLeod (1983) makes reference to the J. Hallonen occurrence where an old trench was cleaned out. A 12 inch wide carbonate vein was sampled and assayed 0.01 ounce per ton Au and 20.64 ounces per ton Ag. The exact location is unknown but is considered to be the Singleton Gray West occurrence.
