Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - Several narrow quartz veins averaging 5 to 7.5 cm, and up to 15 cm in width are hosted by pillowed metavolcanic flows. The veins strike 070 to 094 degrees and dip shallowly 8 to 35 degrees south. These flat veins are mineralized with pyrite and chalcopyrite, and contain accessory tourmaline and chlorite. In addition the pillow selvages are sulphide-rich. On the north side of the Highway a laminated carbonate vein was observed striking 004 degrees and dipping 45 degrees east. The vein contains hematitic fragments and a mafic dike striking 280 degrees and dipping 86 degrees north intrudes the sequence. Grab samples collected from the occurrence by OGS staff in 1991 returned assay values of up to 0.014 ounce Au per ton, trace Ag and 5565 ppm Cu.
