Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - Coates (1970, p.27) described the occurrence as follows: The rocks exposed on the claims consist of biotite granite gneiss with rare inclusions of amphibolite. Mineralized quartz and carbonate veins occur in hematitized and sikicified shear zones in the granite; these zones are too small to show at map scale.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - Core logging by Irbe revealed the presence of ore minerals such as pyrite, chalcopyrite and malachite which were usually associated with altered sections characterized by hematite and quartz-carbonate. Nineteen samples were taken by J.E. Irbe who logged the drill hole; all assays gave copper in trace amounts. Two assays are reported by Irbe to have given 0.62 and 0.47 percent Cu over 3 foot widths. The other assays ranged from 0.02 to 0.17% Cu. Trace amounts of gold were reported in 15 of the 19 samples assayed.

Alteration Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - Mineralized quartz and carbonate veins occur in hematitized and silicified shear zones in the granite.
