Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - According to Map No. 2107 (Walker 1967) the area is underlain by granite to quartz diorite rocks which have intruded massive to pillowed to amphibolitic mafic volcanic rocks. The schistosity trends N70 degrees E and dips an average 85 degrees to the south. The two major zones are described by The Northern Miner, Oct. 18, 1943 as follows: Two quartz outcroppings were sampled on what is known as Zone 'A'. With these outcroppings as a starting point, mineralization was traced for a length of 2000 feet (609.6 m), it is stated. Stripping was then started and the overburden removed from an area approximately 700 feet by 100 feet (213.4 by 30.5 m). Trenching and pitting proved the area to have heavily mineralized vein material, and numerous grab samples disclosed gold values. Ore Zone 'B', which is about a half-mile (0.8 km) southwest of Zone 'A', the vein system has been traced for approximately 2000 feet (609.6 m), the report states. On this zone there is an underground working about 150 feet (45.7 m) in length, showing two quartz veins, one of which extends over its entire length. Another report in the Globe and Mail, Sept. 23, 1933 indicates that: ... two new veins north of the main structure have been uncovered in a shear approximately fifty feet (15.24 m) wide, indicating four parallel veins in a width of slightly over 100 feet (30.5 m). Schnieders et al. (1996) described the occurrence as follows: Five quartz veins were observed in a stripped area 30m by 100m in size. Numerous old pits resembling the pattern of reported trenches were observed at this location. The veins are generally crack-seal type veins striking 110 and up to 80 cm in width. Chlorite and amphibole make up the mafic seams and up to 5% pyrite was observed in the quartz. Calcite is also present in several of the veins. The quartz veins are hosted by a hornblende hornfels or amphibolite. In general the quartz veins are bully and barren looking.

Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - The Canadian Mining Review 1890, p.115 states: The vein carries free gold and highly auriferous pyrites. A Report of the Royal Commission (1890) states: The lode has been located ... the yields being from $120 to $700 of silver and from $60 to $100 of gold to the ton. The Northern Miner (1933, p.23) reports: Twenty specimen samples taken from the pits assayed $92 per ton in gold (3.18 oz. Au/ton). Only two of the samples ran less than $23 per ton (0.79 oz. Au/ton). Grab samples taken by Siville-Ferrier Syndicate returned assay values which averaged 0.43 opt Au (SH Resident Geologist's mineral Deposit Files). Grab samples collected from the occurrence in 1987 by OGS Resident Geologist staff returned assays of nil Au leading Schnieders et al. (1996) to state: The high gold values reported in historic literature came from Siville-Ferrier trenches or workings other than those sampled by the authors, or the reported values are inaccurate. Samples collected by G. Daniels and J. Ferguson in September 1995 from old pits east of the previously sampled Siville-Ferrier trenches, assayed up to 0.4 ounce per ton Au (G. Daniels, Prospector, personal communication, 1995). Grab samples collected from the occurrence in 1987 by Forerunner Resources returned assay values of up to 21 ppm Au.
