Access Description: The original claim block is centred approximately 6 km west-southwest from the southwestern end of Dickison Lake, approximately 6 km west of Greenhedge Lake, along the Gravel River. The #1 post of claim 8194 is 3 miles due west of the southwest extremity of Dickison Lake and immediately south of the east branch of the Gravel River. No actual location for the showing has been found, however, an area 1 km east of Second Lake is suggested. Access is via float plane into Dickison Lake and then by foot to the showing. Alternative access is via bush road to the east end of Dickison Lake and then by boat down Dickison Lake.

Geology

Province: Superior

Geological Age: Archean

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - Carter (1975) shows the area underlain by metasedimentary rocks, namely deformed greywacke, and mylonite within the Gravel River Fault. Metasedimentary migmatite, aplite, pegmatite and hornblende-biotite granite are also present in the area. A major structure, the Gravel River Fault/Kamuck River Fault is present in the area.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - No specific information (i.e.: the exact location or assay results) exists regarding this occurrence. Schnieders et al. provide the following comments: The Fort William Daily Times Journal (May 30, 1931) reports that gold values in wide mineralized quartz zones were discovered in the area. The quartz zones are reported as numerous and of great extent. Bartley (1954) reports many quartz veins from several feet to 90 feet, with one measuring 300 feet across in this general area. Hinz and Landry (1994) also mention the existence of numerous wide quartz zones. During the period between 1983 and 1987 over 30 samples were submitted by N. Hibbart from the Gravel River-Dickison Lake area and assayed by the OGS Resident Geologist's program. Two samples submitted in 1984 (Sample 84-BNH-4 and 84-BNH-6) assayed 0.03 ounce per ton Au and 0.06 ounce per ton Au and are reported to have come from an area 650 to 850 feet south off the Gravel River along a small creek. This area is 2 to 3 km east of the Greenbush area and 1 km north of the Greenhedge Lake Fault occurrence. This gold occurrence has thus been named the Hibbart occurrence, and these low gold values may correspond to the Greenbush Lake occurrence.
