Exploration History

1983-1987: Geological, geophysical and geochemical surveys and diamond drilling; Corporation Falconbridge Copper. Most of this work was done in the surrounding area. The occurrence was probably discovered by Corporation Falconbridge Copper staff during this time. 1990: Ground geophysical survey (IP); Thesis work; D. Ritcey. 1993: Diamond drilling (10 holes); Metall Mining Corporation and Rusty Lake Resources. 1997: Battle Mountain Gold Corp. carried out total field magnetics surveys. 2012: Clearframe Solutions Corp. conducted magnetometer and VLF-EM surveys.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - Schnieders et al. (1996) dexcribe the geology of the area as follows: The area is underlain by mafic metavolcanic flows and tuffs which have been intruded by quartz porphyry. Mafic intrusive rocks are also present and an east-west structure transects the area.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - Wells (1984, assessment files) described the occurrence as follows: the North Gold zone is a gold occurrence with disseminated pyrite in biotite-rich zones and mafic rocks. The host rock is a mafic tuff which is finely bedded. A rusty zone with 2 to 4% disseminated pyrite occurs at the contact with a quartz-eyed (3-5%) QFP sill. Although there is a cross-cutting quartz vein, the gold is concentrated in this tuff. Wells (1984, assessment files) stated a grab sample of the mineralization assayed 6320 ppb Au. Subsequent chip samples across the zone gave the following results: TBS 1477: 167 ppb Au over 1.2 m; TBS 1478: 924 ppb Au over 1.0 m; TBS 1479: 1670 ppb Au over 1.0 m; TBS 1480: 122 ppb Au over 1.2 m.
