Mineralization Comments

Jul 24, 2017 (Therese Pettigrew) - The Parole Lake pegmatite is exposed about 15 m west of the shore of Parole Lake. It strikes easterly and dips 80-85 degrees S. The most conspicuous feature of the deposit is a crude-layered structure perpendicular to the strike. This structure is due to the occurrence of lenses and irregular-shaped bands of white potash feldspar, with small amounts of fine-grained quartz and a little muscovite. The lenses and bands make up almost half the deposit. Separating them is a matrix consisting of: 50% spodumene, 25% quartz, 15-20% feldspar, and 5-10% muscovite. The spodumene is pale green and occurs as slender, well oriented, prismatic crystals, averaging 2 inches or less in length; the quartz, plagioclase, and muscovite form a fine-grained groundmass (Pye, 1965). On surface, the dyke is exposed only in a few small isolated humps over about 30 m in length and 3.65 m in width, but was drilled over a strike length of 366 m (Mulligan, 1965). During the 2011 drill program, DDH PL-11-01 intersected a 7.29 m thick spodumene pegmatite from 197.47-2-4.76 m, which returned assays of 1.76% Li2O over 7.29 m, including 2.29% Li2O over 5.15 m from 198.47-203.62 m. DDH PL-11-02 intersected spodumene pegmatite from 149.23-154.66 m, which returned assays of 1.25% LI2O over 5.41 m, including 1.77% Li2O over 3.0 m from 150.25-153.25 m (AFRI 20000008079).
