07/25/2019 (T Pettigrew) - This deposit is a slope fen (234 Ha) characterized by open graminoid fens, and open and treed low-shrub fens. Only 40% of the total peatland area is treed. The deposit has an average depth of 1.3 m consisting primarily of sedge-sphagnum peat. The deep central block of open graminoid fen has an average peat depth of 3.3 m covering 26.5 ha, including a 1.5 ha area of 4 m peat. Development potential is moderate. Although access is excellent, the stump content low (0.1%) and the proximity to Geraldton is good; drainage capability is limited because of a railway bed near the south edge of the main deposit. Only the basin north of the railway line is considered recoverable.
